WINTER
IS DEFINITELY HERE!
With the snow flying on a regular basis and the horses
bundled up in their blankets, there is no doubt that winter is here! MRF
Dressage will be finalizing dates for clinics with Pam Goodrich and other top
dressage trainers very soon, so check the web site and the board at the barn to
take advantage of these wonderful opportunities to advance your skills and
further your horse’s training.
SHARON
MCCUSKER CLINIC
MRF Dressage will be hosting a clinic with Sharon
McCusker on Sunday, February 3rd, 2008. Sharon
McCusker operates Souhegan Farm in Ashby, MA and is a USDF Gold Medalist, and
USET Long-listed rider who has ridden with many top U.S. and European Dressage
trainers. Sharon draws from her experience riding with these professionals and
tailors an approach that works for each individual horse and rider. Sharon has a
basic framework from which she approaches her schooling with the horse, based on
the German training system: rhythm, relaxation, connection, impulsion,
straightness and collection. Everyone at MRF Dressage is excited for Sharon to
come and share her talents! Join us for a fun and educational clinic. Please
see Michele to sign up or add your name to the sign-up sheet on the board.
A very warm welcome to the new
faces at the barn! Welcome to the horses and their people: Freedom with Kerry
and Nancy, Ernie and Joanne, Capella and Mary, Danny Boy and Ellen, and Kassidy
and Judy. Welcome to Salty and Sabrina as well. They are here for a month (an
anniversary gift from her husband). Remember – MRF Gift Certificates make
great gifts!!! Also a very special welcome to Duchess and Lulu, the new barn
cats on loan from Pam Goodrich, who have been entertaining all of us in the tack
room. Duchess is the larger and redder kitty and Lulu is more petite. They are
very friendly and love to play!
CONGRATULATIONS TO JOANNE
Congratulations to Joanne on the
purchase of her new horse Ernie! What a great horse! Everyone at MRF Dressage
wishes you joy and luck with him!
Yes, show season is almost upon us. Are you ready? The dates
for the 2008 MRF Dressage Show Series will be announced soon. These shows are an
excellent way to test your skills and get very valuable feedback from the
judges. Want to try out a new test this year? Now is the time to talk with
Michele about your goals and plan for your show season. Of course the shows also
feature great food from Michele’s mom and dad and tons of FUN
and support from everyone at the barn too!
Michele would like to put
together a “Wall of Fame” in the tack room. If you would like to be a part
of the display, please bring Michele a framed picture of you and your horse. The
wall is still empty so let’s get some pictures up there and show off our
horses!
What a great holiday season at MRF Dressage this year. Thank
you to Meghan for so generously making up treat presents for all of the horses.
Thank you to the MRF Santa that filled all of the horses’ stockings too! There
were many happy horses this holiday season.
The MRF Holiday party was held on
December 29th and a great time was had by all. The MRF Dressage
potluck dinners are becoming quite famous and the food is amazing. With the
addition of Bill S. as our esteemed bar tender, everyone had awesome drinks as
well! The Yankee Swap was tame this year with very little swapping. Most notable
swapping goes to Kelvin for his swapping of a Pilates DVD for a pancake and
maple syrup set! There is some rumor that Michele rigs the choosing of the
number though as she always ends up with number 1. All in all, a great night of
food, fun, and holiday cheer made for an excellent evening at MRF. Best wishes
for health and happiness to everyone and their horses in 2008!
Thank you to Michele for your
dedication to all of us despite the freezing temperatures and bad weather.
Thank you to everyone who has been
mixing up and giving Delta her antibiotics! I know it is not the nicest task and
I sincerely appreciate everyone’s time and help. I am so fortunate to board at
such a wonderful barn with such caring and dedicated people!
Thank you to all our wonderful
staff for taking extra care of our horses in this seemingly endless string of
bad weather. Keeping the right
blankets, fresh water, fluffy bedding and extra hay to keep everyone warm and
happy is no small task. They make
decisions based on what’s best for the horses and we really appreciate that.
THANKS MRF STAFF – YOU’RE THE BEST!!
